| Jewelry designer, Carolyn Pollack, captures the mossy green shades of the hillsides in Santa Fe, New Mexico with the Santa Fe Sage sterling silver jewelry collection. "Driving in northern New Mexico towards Santa Fe brings a unique desert landscape of lush, mossy greenery and thousands of acres of wilderness," she says. Carolyn discovered that the snakeskin jasper gemstone, with its depth and texture of mossy green color, replicates the vibrant shades found in the Santa Fe desert landscape. Oxidized sterling silver beads accentuate the charcoal lines running through the jasper. A sterling silver replica of a fern leaf celebrates the lush beauty of this Southwestern gem, nestled in the foothills at the southern tip of the Rocky Mountains. |
The beauty of the Santa Fe Sage collection lies in its endless shades of green gemstones intricately hand strung together to create unique necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. The charcoal matrix in the green turquoise and snakeskin jasper ensures that no two gemstones are alike, resulting in truly one-of-a-kind pieces.
Several of the earrings, rings, and pendants in the collection showcase rich, green turquoise surrounded by a stamped pattern in sterling silver. The stamp features a soft-arrow shape symbolizing purpose and direction, and reflects the traditional Southwest silversmith technique of file cutting, a process in which silver is given soft edges by sawing and filing.
Pendants, rings, and earrings hold cabochons that capture the mossy greens of the Santa Fe desert landscape. A twist rope border encircles the cabochons symbolizing strength, loyalty, and eternal friendship.

• .925 sterling silver jewelry is a combination of 92.5% silver and usually 7.5% copper, although the copper is sometimes replaced with another alloy or a combination of alloys. The hallmark of .925 sterling silver on a piece of jewelry ensures the highest quality of silver. • Green garnet, the modern birthstone for January, represents love, revitalizes feelings and controls anger, especially toward oneself. While preventing fears of insecurity, garnet builds self-esteem and generates balance and awareness. Garnet is found worldwide and occurs in its well-known red color and also in its lesser-known blue and green varieties. • People of the Southwest prized olive green and blue turquoise, the heart of Southwestern tradition, as currency, as a talisman of good health and most importantly as beautiful jewelry. Known as the modern birthstone for December, turquoise is often called the "sky stone" by Southwestern people. It is believed to have healing powers, while promoting spiritual attunement and attracting abundance and prosperity. Several Southwestern states celebrate it as their state stone: Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada. • Best known as the modern birthstone for August, peridot symbolizes prosperity, growth, and openness, alleviating depression, anger, fear, jealousy and anxiety. Peridot is believed to strengthen the heart, lungs, spleen, intestinal tract, ulcers and eyes. • Snakeskin jasper with its mossy green, textured color is believed to bring tranquility and protection while reducing fears and insecurities. It also aids quick thinking, organizational abilities and the completion of projects. • Found in Cornwall, England, Norway, Russia and Zimbabwe, green serpentine gets its name from the word "serpent" because it resembles the skin of a snake. Serpentine is used for meditation, protection from poisonous creatures and as an aid for kidney and stomach problems. |
| Celebrate the lush desert landscape and foliage of Santa Fe with sterling silver and verdant gemstone jewelry. The vibrant shades of mossy green in the Santa Fe collection are a popular color trend and complement, not only green clothing, but also pink, purple, earth tones, denim, gray, and the classic black and white. Gemstones in a variety of green tones create delicate, beaded strands. Wear them separately or together for a bold, layered look. Dangling earrings create movement and highlight the face. Designer Carolyn Pollack has combined two trends – hoops and beaded dangles – in one unique pair of earrings. Flattering Y-shaped necklaces showcase unique green obsidian beads and draw attention to the neckline. The pendant on the chunky, turquoise necklace is removable so it can be worn with a simple silver chain. The Santa Fe Sage collection offers many different ways to wear each piece – the possibilities are as endless as the Southwest desert landscape. |
